Florida State Council Vocations Charity Fund

I participated in the District Deputy mid-year meeting in December where we discussed the funding challenges facing various Vocations programs, which are currently at a critical juncture. You should have received a letter and a Vocations Fund Commitment Form from Worthy Rich Dahn, Chairman of Florida KofC Charities, Inc., via mail.

I urge you to review the letter carefully and allow your heart to guide your contribution to this vital charity. Vocations are essential in “Keeping the Faith Alive” by supporting new priests, bishops’ special projects, military clergy, and those entering religious life.

(Vocations are Everybody’s Business. Pray for Vocations!)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Brothers,

I want to wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving. So, what is Thanksgiving really all about?

Merriam-Webster defines Thanksgiving as “the act of giving thanks; or a prayer expressing gratitude.” Why and what exactly should Christians give thanks for?

“Giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” ~ Ephesians 5:20

The spiritual person is the one who is thankful for everything. He is the one who receives everything with thanksgiving and who knows that he has nothing except what he has received from God.

“A person cannot receive even one thing unless it is given him from heaven.” (John 3:27)

Let us keep the real reason for Thanksgiving in mind as we get together with family and friends this year and always.

I am thankful for all of you my Brothers and love you all. May God continue to bless us and our work.

Passing of Brother Art Giliberti

Brothers,

We lost a great Knight and friend this month when Art Giliberti died. Art has been a Knight for 67 years. Art was a model Knight, heavily involved with many programs and activities we had going on. He was always there to help and assist. Art was always positive and never had anything negative to say about anybody or anything. A real Catholic gentleman. We will miss Art.

God of all consolation, in Your unending love and mercy for us, You turn the darkness of death into the dawn of new life. Show compassion to Your people in sorrow. Be our refuge and our strength to lift us from the darkness of this grief to peace and joy in Your presence. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

John Van Kooten Memorial Mass

Our Chaplain, Father Manny Lopez, has scheduled a Mass to celebrate what would have been Brother and Sir Knight John Van Kooten’s 100th Birthday on Thursday, August 8, 2024 @ 9:00 AM at Santa Maria del Mar Church in Flagler Beach. Please plan on attending, wearing either your Green Council Shirt or Blue Assembly Shirt. Here is to the memory of Mr. John Van Kooten.

May God Grant Brother and SK John Van Kooten eternal rest and peace.
